[Versión en Español a] It’s painful for me to look at these photos. May 12, 2023, it was the evening after a difficult day, the most difficult day, and our faces reflect it. I was carrying my film camera and I suggested to my daughter that we take a photo. We were in our way to have a Pho soup (one of her favorite dishes) that I promised to her the day before. “When we get out of this, I will invite you”, I told her. A story and photos not suitable for social media, where we only post smiling versions of ourselves. I thank good fortune I had my analog camera with me that day. Now, the light of that bitter (but also luminous) afternoon remains with me in the negatives I have in my hand right now, a quality that digital photography doesn’t have.
